Rugby Recap -

The Westmont rugby team defeated Azusa Pacific, 28-22, on Saturday to improve to 3-0 in pre-season friendlies before its actual season starts during spring semester. Senior Enzo Troiani and sophomore Jake Ibrahim scored tries for the Warriors, while junior Matthew Beall made all four conversions.

Azusa Pacific has been a perennial powerhouse in rugby. Beall stated, “It was a really hard fought game, so we were stoked to get the win. The guys have been working really hard at practice every week to improve on some things from the last game, and it paid off.”

Westmont’s next game is against the SB Rugby Academy on Sat. Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. at Elings Park in Santa Barbara.

NAIA National Championships Cross Country Recap -

Men’s cross country finished 22nd out of 36 teams at the NAIA National Championships in Vancouver, Washington this past Saturday. Junior Blake Fonda was the first Warrior to finish, placing 39th with a time of 25:36, just 12 seconds short of being an All-American. Rounding out the top five were sophomore Michael Oldach (113th), senior Kyle Fredrickson (120th), senior Thomas Hamlin (202nd), and junior David Peterson (231st).

On the women’s side, three individuals competed for the Warriors, with senior Nadine Lara leading the pack, finishing in 144th, while freshman Grace Hanna finished two seconds behind in 149th, and senior Janna Jensen placed 190th.
