Ashley Estebo
Year: Junior
From: Orange County, CA
Dorm: Armington
Major: Cellular and Molecular Biology, Pre-Med track
Political Views: Conservative
On-Campus Issues I Find Most Important: There’s not a lot of community service. You don’t hear about outreaches, events or clubs you can be involved in. Giving students the opportunity to work with people off campus, whether it is in shelters or clinics, and reach out to the Santa Barbara community.
Goals as Senator: My goal is to create authentic community, not forced community. I want Armington to be a place where authentic community can be built, through speakers who can come to address issues students are interested in. I want to be accessible. I want to make sure that students are not only being heard by senators but also by faculty members and staff so that all these important issues are communicated to higher authorities.
Vote for Me Because: I was class president and student body president my senior year of high school, so I know what it’s like to lead not only a class but a school. I greatly enjoy serving my peers and being part of the decision-making process. I know what it takes to be a leader, and I’ve been in leadership positions before. I’m willing to put forth the effort that it takes to make people love Armington as much as I do. I’ve also lived in Armington for two years.
Something Westmont Should Know About Me: I’m obsessed with Peanut M&Ms and I love crocheting.
Favorite Color: Aquamarine and cerulean
Favorite Thing About Westmont: I like that it’s right by the beach.

Benjamin Peterson
Year: Freshman
From: San Luis Obispo, CA
Dorm: Page
Major: Political Science, Pre-Law track
Political Views: More as a conservative
On-Campus Issues I Find Most Important: The preservation of maroon and white as the school colors, student involvement, everyone’s voices are heard, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to join organizations and giving all organizations the same preferential treatment by WCSA. As a student body, we need to be aware of issues that confront not only our campus, but around the US, like sexual harassment. We are not immune to any human vice; we need to be respectful of one another as a student body, that men treat women with respect, to avoid harassment and rape—and people should be open to talk about it if they have questions, and we have resources for that.
Goals as Senator: To listen to my constituents in Page, to hear their concerns, and be a strong voice for them in student government.
Vote for Me Because: In the past, I worked at the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce as an assistant in governmental affairs. I interned over the past year at our [San Luis Obispo] State Assemblyman’s Office. Last summer I worked in the United States Senate as a page for US Senator Diane Feinstein. Those are a few of my experiences in government.
Something Westmont Should Know About Me: I love going downtown for coffee, and will always go out to coffee with those who want to join me.
Favorite Color: Royal blue
Favorite Thing About Westmont: The people here are amazing. Our community is really friendly and I felt very welcomed, and I hope everyone else does the same.

Branon Eusebio
Year: Sophomore
From: Murrieta, CA
Dorm: Emerson
Major: Biology
Political Views: Mostly conservative
On-Campus Issues I Find Most Important: A lot of times I hear about things that other people want to change, but I never see them change. I think that not solving problems is a problem we need to solve by routing problems to the administration to get them solved.
Goals as Senator: Solving problems, listening to what everyone wants, and relaying that to administration, to actually get things done and taken care of.
Vote for Me Because: I have good people skills. I think communication will be easy and natural for me. Listening to people is something I’m always doing, so I will always be informed on what people want.
Something Westmont Should Know About Me: I’m always looking to meet new people, so if I don’t know you, I’d love to talk to you.
Favorite Color: Light blue
Favorite Thing About Westmont: My favorite thing about Westmont is my friend Lalo.

Chatt Aiton
Year: Freshman
From: Everywhere. I was a military kid, so I moved around a lot.
Dorm: Clark
Major: Engineering/Physics
Running Because: I missed out on a lot of high school activities because I was out of school for seven months, but I really like to be involved.
Political Views: Moderate
On-Campus Issues I Find Most Important: Providing an academic environment that is students-focused; making sure there are good study environments, but also making sure that it’s fun.
Goals as Senator: My goal is to properly serve Clark, and make sure I meet their needs.
Vote for Me Because: I have had experience in Student Council in high school, and as a military kid, I’ve experienced a lot of different cultures and viewpoints.
Something Westmont Should Know About Me: I’m willing to listen. If you have any issues, come find me.
Favorite Color: Blue
Favorite Thing About Westmont: The weather!

Jacob (Jake) Lopez
Year: Freshman
From: Taft, California—near Bakersfield
Dorm: Clark
Major: Economics/Business
Political Views: Conservative
On-Campus Issues I Find Most Important: Emphasizing cultural diversity, working together, and having problems with racial identity.
Goals as Senator: Creating a more economically sound operation, getting more for each dollar that we spend.
Vote for Me Because: Throughout high school, I had two years’ experience as president and started multiple clubs in high school (World Changers Club, leadership and growth club, equipping students to grow by themselves.) I’m very personal and social, I like to hear from everybody. I’m open to failure, because failure means that you’re trying something, and you’re going to go forward from that.
Something Westmont Should Know About Me: I’m a straightforward guy who hates politics, who wants to be involved so I can serve you [the students], and represent Clark to the best of my abilities. I just want everyone to know that regardless of whether I’m elected or not, I will be very involved. I’m also a passionate Star Wars and Lord of the Rings fan.
Favorite Color: Green
Favorite Thing About Westmont: So far, it’s been the upperclassmen students who have been very friendly and offered lots of advice to me as an incoming freshman.

Kathryn Hopper
Year: Junior
From: Visalia, CA
Dorm: Van Kampen
Major: Political Science
Political Views: Conservative
On-Campus Issues I Find Most Important: One of the biggest things that I want to do is inform the VK residents about what WCSA is doing. Too often we don’t know what our student representatives are doing, and I want to change that. I also want to be a true representative, in that I listen to what the residents want, and then share it with the Senate.
Goals as Senator: My goal is to start a voting survey so that I can listen to the residents and they can share with me what they want WCSA to do, as well as allowing them to have an opportunity to know what we’re voting on and have a say in that.
Vote for Me Because: I think I have a passion for our school, and a passion to represent the students that I’ve gotten to know over the last couple years. I worked in a congressional office over the summer, where my job was to take calls and listen to constituents and hear what they wanted to share with the congressman. The experience of hearing their concerns taught me that I want to know what Westmont students’ concerns are at the school, and be their voice to the administration.
Something Westmont Should Know About Me: I have a slight obsession with elephants, and I’m really excited about representing VK residents. If they have anything they want to share with me, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
Favorite Color: Turquoise, baby blue, and teal
Favorite Thing About Westmont: Community. I love the way that our student body comes together in times of hardship, but also the friendships that you create here and the way that we seem to come alongside each other when we’re going through rough times or great times. I always know that I have people to count on. I love walking around campus and knowing a good portion of the people I’m passing. It makes me feel at home.

Kristin Deegan
Year: Freshman
From: Santa Clarita, CA
Dorm: Clark
Major: Undecided, but possibly Psychology
Political Views: Moderate
What On-Campus Issues I Find Most Important: The problem of involving the student body in making decisions, and in the decisions made by WCSA
Goals as Senator: I think my goal will be to represent Clark to the best of my ability, and share what they’re thinking and feeling, whether I agree with them or not, and bring up their ideas for consideration.
Vote for Me Because: I’m very personable, I think, and people would be comfortable talking to me and telling me their concerns, so that I could relate those to WCSA. I’m big on organization, so that will help, in remembering and keeping track of the things I say or do.
Something Westmont Should Know About Me: I just hit 5’1”, which was a big accomplishment, but my personality doesn’t match my size. I’m very loud. I also think whoever wins, whether it’s me or someone else, I think that it’s who God wants to represent the dorm, and I think that’s so cool.
Favorite Color: White or pink
Favorite Thing About Westmont: I love the community and lifestyle. Whether you’re in Page, and always with people, or in Clark, I think the community lifestyle has no comparison to other schools. It’s so different here and close-knit and very accepting. At other schools I feel like there’s a way you’re expected to be, but here you’re free to express your interests and what you believe, everyone is accepting here and that builds us up as a school.

Megan Fuller
Year: Senior
From: Thousand Oaks, CA
Dorm: Off Campus/OV
Major: Psychology
Political Views: I don’t know. Probably more conservative.
The On-Campus Issues I Find Most Important: I don’t know what they are yet, but when I know, I will do my best to solve them.
Goals as Senator: I will make the concerns and the issues of the students my own, so that I can address them with the higher-ups on campus. Help people know who to go to if they have a problem.
Vote for Me Because: I’m a good problem solver, a good listener, helpful in nature, friendly, and interested to learn the issues, so that I can help address them.
Something Westmont Should Know About Me: I can’t function without coffee.
Favorite Color: Lavender
Favorite Thing About Westmont: The ability to have strong relationships with professors.

Robert Chu
Year: Sophomore
From: East Bay, CA
Dorm: Clark
Major: Biochemistry
Political Views: Moderate
On-Campus Issues I Find Most Important: The student government is kind of its own thing, with not a lot of people involved. It takes a while for what people are saying to make it to WCSA. I want to make people’s concerns be heard faster, in a stream-lined process.
Goals as Senator: I want to deal with the communication break, not just within Clark, but people can be kind of clique-ish, and I want to break that. You come in as freshmen, and live in Page or Clark, and that’s your friend group, and then next year you go to Armington, and that’s your friend group, but you don’t tend to associate with other people unless you have to.
There was a program in my high school, where students would do life talks, and just get to know each other, to bridge those gaps. Like juniors meeting with freshmen, or seniors meeting with sophomores—I want a program like that on campus.
Vote for Me Because: I am an upperclassmen, so I’m a bit more experienced in how Westmont actually works. If there is a major concern, I will not give up until it is dealt with.
Something Westmont Should Know About Me: I’m easily relatable and I’m incredibly tenacious at whatever I do, and I will not give up.
Favorite Color: Dark blue
Favorite Thing About Westmont: I like how the Christian core binds all of the classes together.
