After scoring four goals in her past three games, including a hat trick against Arizona Christian, it is only fitting that Kaci Mexico be awarded Warrior of the Week.
Mexico is a fourth-year forward from Los Olivos, California. After a successful career at Santa Ynez High School, it didn’t take long for Mexico to prove that she was a force to be reckoned with at the college level.
In her first year with the Warriors in 2011, Mexico played in 19 games and scored three goals. In her following two seasons, she tallied up seven more goals for the Warriors.
As a fourth-year, Mexico is currently having her best season yet. She led her team to an incredible 7-0 victory against Arizona Christian on Oct. 11 by scoring three goals in just 40 minutes of play. Mexico followed up this stunning performance with another goal in the Warrior’s 4-1 win against Concordia the following weekend.
In just 14 games, Mexico already has six goals and has maintained an amazing .200 shot percentage. But Mexico isn’t just known for her talent on the field.
“There is no other player, let alone person, like Kaci,” said teammate fourth-year Tiffany Dimaculangan. “ [She] openly gives others the freedom to be themselves [and] embodies full acceptance in her love for others.”
Mexico and her fellow Warriors will take on William Jessup on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 2:30 p.m. for their last game before GSAC Tournament play.
