Expressing duality in feminine fashion: why Area is a brand to watch

Dear Readers,

There is nothing more alluring than an electric, trail-blazing brand making its big romantic entrance onto the scene.

Readers, get ready to be wined and dined by the biggest up-and-coming name in fashion: Area. In 2013, Beckett Fogg and Piotreck Panszczyk, two Pace University students, founded the brand. They persevered against many trials and tribulations with basically no funding, which, for a couture brand, is like having a big red X on your back, which might come across as morbid, but the industry is so gnarly. Based out of New York City, Area is quickly becoming the hottest brand to watch in 2021.

Area made it in the industry because their brand designs are just that good. In a recent interview with Vogue, the brand creators bashfully talked about how they never really have to promote their brand for exposure — the designs are so alluring that big names, like Kendall Jenner and her clique, are always adorned in their clothes.

So, what’s the big deal? Diamond and shape. Area has absolutely destroyed the scene with the way diamonds are tied into statement pieces. The designs are extremely different from most other brands, with the body geometric-line shapes maintaining a harsh exterior while keeping femininity at the core.

Recently, they had a virtual fashion show on Instagram to debut their innovative Spring 2021 line. The pieces in the line are one-of-a-kind and show extreme craftsmanship. Models were treated as art pieces, with elaborate headpieces full of diamonds and colorful makeup to match. The virtual fashion show showcased two models who flirtatiously showed off the larger-than-life designs.

With the 2000s making a comeback to the fashion scene, Area incorporates the spunk and scandal from that era into their pieces. As a groundbreaking voice in the fashion industry, Area never shies away from the contrast of the silhouettes of dark and lighter colors that demonstrates duality of femininity in clothing.

Why do I love them? Well, anything out of New York is either edgy or elegant, so, in contrast with my roots in grassroots Southern California, it is a welcomed, energetic embrace of “yes, please,” something that can’t be covered in sand or grass stains. Hey, even Dolly Parton added rhinestones to her boots. Furthermore, the brand’s audacity is exhilarating. There are no guidelines, no colors avoided, and these articles of clothing say “you’d better be looking at me” in all of their pieces. What’s not to love?

I wouldn’t be surprised if Area started showing up all over your Instagram feed in the following week. The fashion gods have spoken and when it rains in this industry, it truly pours. Keep your eyes peeled for the brand’s Spring 2021 virtual fashion show! May you dream of taking up space and wearing diamonds in the process.
